Korean spicy ground pork

Korean spicy ground pork

(Adapted from the Subversive Table)

1 tbs canola oil
1 onion (peeled and minced)
5 garlic cloves (peeled and minced)
A piece of fresh ginger, about 2″ (peeled and minced)
1 lb ground pork
4 tbs Gochujang
1 tbs mirin
1 tbs sugar
2 tbs soy sauce
1 tbs sesame oil
a pinch of salt

  1. On a large nonstick skillet, heat 1 tbs canola oil.
  2. Add minced onion + garlic + ginger and cook until fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add ground pork and the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Cook until the pork caramelizes, about 7-8 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with steamed rice, kimchi, Korean marinated eggs, chopped cucumber, and chopped scallions.
