all-purpose dipping sauce

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup cold water
1/3 cup fish sauce
1/4 cup lime juice (about 1 lime)
Chopped garlic and red chilis (as desired)

  1. In a medium bowl, mix sugar + cold water + fish sauce until the sugar is disolved.
  2. Add lime juice and mix well.
  3. Add chopped garlic and red chilis.
  4. Use immediately or refrigerate for a month.
