Stir-fried beef with onion

We saw a mouse running in the kitchen. So, hubby set some traps.

So far, they caught 3 slippers and 1 shoe. I guess the mouse wins.

Stir-fried beef with onion

2 onions (peeled and sliced)
4-5 scallions (separated green and white parts, cut about 1″ length)
500 g beef flank (sliced about 3mm-thick)

Beef marinade sauce:
4 garlic cloves (peeled, minced)
1 small piece of ginger (peeled, minced)
1 tsp Maggi sauce
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp oyster sauce
1/3 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tbs cornstarch
1 tbs cooking wine
1 tbs sesame oil

Stir-fry sauce:
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp oyster sauce
1 tbs cooking wine
1/3 cup water
Freshly ground pepper

  1. In a bowl, mix all ingredients in the beef marinade sauce. Add beef, mix well, and set aside.
  2. In a nonstick skillet, heat 1 tbs oil under high heat.
  3. Add onion + white parts of scallions + 1/8 tsp sugar + 1/4 tsp salt.
  4. Stir-fry quickly just until the onions turns slightly transparent, about 30 seconds.
  5. Immediately pour the onions and scallions onto a plate. Set aside.
  6. In the same skillet, heat 2 tbs oil under high heat.
  7. Add the marinated beef.
  8. Stir fry until the beef is nearly cooked.
  9. Add soy sauce + oyster sauce + cooking wine + water.
  10. Turn off the heat.
  11. Add the green parts of the scallions.
  12. Add the semi-cooked onions from above.
  13. Add freshly ground pepper.
  14. Serve immediately.
